Re: Level 35

Well, Ive gotten to level 35 relatively quickly with no help (within the past 3 days)... and now Im officially stumped. I finally gave in to reading these boards, and I've tried everything hinted at, and nothing is happening aside from an error message directly from my computer. I've gotten as far as seeing the *****.***, and this is where the trouble starts. Can somebody please PM me and give me the exact procedure before I lose my mind?

However, for this level you have to take a step back and look at the big picture.

should there be a picture in the process before?

Ok i'm not seeing anything but a white box where the flash usually is. Am I doing something wrong computer-wise or is it broken or what? The little hand shows up and lets me click on the box but everything is white.

Re: Level 35

AAARGH!! I have tried every address bar combination, and every word!!! Please someone give me a useful clue, or at least PM me!! sad

kRaZyKiRb:
The Second Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary contains full entries for 171,476 words in current use, and 47,156 obsolete words. To this may be added around 9,500 derivative words included as subentries. Over half of these words are nouns, about a quarter adjectives, and about a seventh verbs; the rest is made up of interjections, conjunctions, prepositions, suffixes, etc. These figures take no account of entries with senses for different parts of speech (such as noun and adjective).

This suggests that there are, at the very least, 250,000 distinct words in the English language! 6EQUJ5, I cant believe you tried EVERY word!!   tongue

Looking for a funny signature. 18-40, preferrably non-smoker.

The file won't download. Every time I try it tells me I don't have an application to open the file with. I'm working on a mac, should I call up one of my friends with a PC or can I actually do it on my computer?

Re: Level 35

I like to think I've done ok up to now, coming to this level without too much help :-). Now, however, this level has me feeling rather dumb-witted. I see the blank screen, and managed to find a number of r********* on it. No IDEA what to with that however...I know I'm supposed to dig, but no idea what that means either...a nudge in the right direction (or a useful PM, perhaps :-)), please, wise masters of this beautiful game? Thanx!

Currently struggling on level 38. Great game, this one, tho it makes me feel rather small and stupid at times :-)...

What's underneath r*********?

Re: Level 35

Thanx...but I'm afraid that's too cryptic. I know I should dig, and use my hands for that...but that still leaves me nowhere. Another pointer, please? (or one im PM if it would give away too much otherwise)

Re: Level 35

Okay, I opened the f***.*** file and got m****.*** as the only readable thing. f***.*** is proving stubborn; i fed it through my hex editor and nothing, tried to open it with something exept for a t*t file and i got nowhere. I even tried to pen it with i explorer 7.0, it caused it to repedetly open, then close, then open again, until i had to force quit my computer.
the m****.*** file leads to a 404, and so does any other extensions or alternates i use. I even thought it was a fake 404 and looked at the source. Nothing. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction?

Re: Level 35

I see many people have stuck on the m****.***, me too. Please, could anyone tell me, do I have to do anything with m****.***, or it was thought to mislead us??

And I found out one interesting and funny thing: first file is caught f***.***, but next ***.f*** and it looks like mirror reflection... Does this has any meaning?

And clues link in this level also differs from link in riddle. Maybe this has some meaning too?

So many questions.. wink

think about the name of the puzzle... digging involves a lot of repetitive actions doesn't it? wink

... and now for something completely different ...

Was this riddle changed? o.O  I mean, I tired this puzzle again now that I have some time, and I needed to get the file again.  However, when I downloaded it from the same link I got a different file -.-

phreakymonkey: You're on the right track, which is why I've edited your post. Try starting with a clean copy of the original file and starting over.
