Re: Map quiz - let's discover the Earth from up above

i must admit that what you see is not extremely well known.
but the place is told to have something very special in it.
this is not in Scotland.

Re: Map quiz - let's discover the Earth from up above

The "shaped-hill" search in google maps over the UK gave me a result. Does that search count as cheating? If so, don't read this:

Spoiler:

Glastonbury Tor?

Re: Map quiz - let's discover the Earth from up above

this is not cheating, as long as you stay within your maps browser wink
indeed, that's the Tor in Glastonbury, town which is known to have the legendary King Arthur's body in its grounds.
according to Marion Zimmer-Bradley, could correspond to the magical island of Avalon.
at least it's a remarkable place of long and mysterious history.
you're up the hill, druid csmarkus smile

Re: Map quiz - let's discover the Earth from up above

Thanks bacchus!
Here is the link if other players want to explore it.

For a long time, I wanted to dig out something for that Godzilla head near the slider but all those efforts were in vain wink

Now an easy one... The country is not enough, the city is not enough, we are looking for the name of the street hosting this famous thing!

Re: Map quiz - let's discover the Earth from up above

Yes it is Abbey Road and this is one of the most famous zebra crossings of the world. Why? Because of the Beatles. Details here. Google maps link here.

Your turn, Charlie.

Re: Map quiz - let's discover the Earth from up above

maybe it's to prevent some things to fly away so that people can see them... i'd go for a park with marvelous butterflies.

Re: Map quiz - let's discover the Earth from up above

Much closer! You are right, one of its main functions is to keep inside what's inside. However, it's not for butterflies or other animals. And it's in the UK.

Re: Map quiz - let's discover the Earth from up above

but it doesn't look much like a depository for liquefied carbon dioxyde...
is it a place where they test growing plants under martian atmosphere? or in the view of terraforming?

Getting closer...  But it's not related to Mars, it's an Earth project.
