Re: Level 22

In this level I've got so far, that I get the first level by clicking OK... I think that means, that I'm not far away from the answer, however, I don't get how to use the second key... Can someone please help me? Thx

Re: Level 22

Does your answer start with a question mark? This will get you to the first level, but this is just a coincidence.

If you do the first steps right, the second key will make sense.

I think you need to look at what *** actually is and you'll have your answer.

Re: Level 22

And yet the main thing is to find out some informations on what is XOR and you should find a few milion pages. After that a pen and a piece of paper will be once again your best allies (with your brain and your hand at the end of your arm...).

Re: Level 22

I think the last conversion step will be a bit misleading if you don't have certain knowledge. I'm using Windows 10, and I don't know if things will be different in other OS.

At least on Windows 10, if you use the method from Level 06 to convert a number to a character, from 0 to 31 it's all non-printable characters (or control characters), and that's the place I got stuck and I thought I did things wrong in previous steps or I should use some Unicode encoding...
Even if you Google the ASCII or Extended ASCII, you do not get what you need.
The thing is, there are different kinds of Extended ASCII character set. What you normally found is called "ANSI character set" (a.k.a. Window's ANSI / ISO Latin-1 / ANSI Extended ASCII), but in the last step what you need is "OEM Extended ASCII character set" (a.k.a. IBM PC Extended Character Set / Code Page 437). If you search for that, you will find the non-printable characters now have equivalent Unicode characters being associated and that's what you want.
