Quite unrelated im afraid. Original thinking might be necessary for this last bit.
Oh, but dont quote me on that.
All right, I feel quite stupid, here. I can't really make sense of the clue. Through various means I found a mountain and some cities, but I think I found them erroneously and they're not actually a part of the riddle at all. I don't even know what to ask for help with, exactly--I know I'm probably missing something really obvious, but I'm just really lost. Do I just need to think harder, or...?

I'm afraid those mountains and cities are less important. Instead, try saying the clue loudly while looking at the map and at the same time think of what this riddle is about.
Oh man...that did help, I just noticed something. Well, I still haven't gotten the riddle, but I do understand the clue, so I feel a lot less like I'm just floundering. (I was thinking about it completely the wrong way--trying to make it so complicated!)
Edit: I got it! Once I understood the clue it took a very short amount of time. Thanks again!

*sigh* More confusion.
Ok . . . I get the clue - that part is pretty obvious. I know the two *********. (Well, I am guessing on the first one, because there are more than one to choose from). I don't have the slightest idea about the *** except that I have to change it. There's a ***** in the ***! I didn't even know you could do that! What could it mean?
Does it have anything to do with how the letters sound different when spoken, in the different language? I tried saying the different pronunciations, but it doesn't make any sense.
What to do, what to do.

I'm surprised you have so big problems right after coming through the tutorial level!
Which country? Come on, you know the answer.
and i guess it won't matter how you would pronounce your answer...
Confused, confused. Bacchus - thank you for the stars; I apologize for not being careful enough. I guess I'm starting to see what to write and what not to write in my questions and such. It's tough!
Ok, so I can forget about the pronunciation. I could have sworn that the one thing that would be the most obvious change would be . . . l*******. Plus, this is on the map.
Tutorial level? o_O Whaaat?
EDIT: No way. Oh my, oh my, oh my! Triiickkkyyyyy! Dang it I got it! Well... the first part, at least... Now I have the useless error to get past...
Thank you for the help.
EDIT2: Stumped again... Read through all the posts regarding this second part of the level. Not getting much luck on this. I have been searching about all of the different kinds of tails there are, and the Wikipedia description of .htaccess seems to match up really, really well with the error page here, but that does not work. Plus, it describes an unnecessary tail. I took the tail off, and still it doesn't do anything. What else could this mean?

Don't ovcrcomplicate it.

this could mean that swan has a mean sense of humour.
Um, well I have tried my best to put this in to the simplest terms I can think of. I have also thought about the physical types of tails . . .
I don't have to change my first answer, correct? I am just changing the .****?
I've taken the whole tail away, I have taken one letter off at a time, I have put them into different orders. What else is there to do? It doesn't seem to be that I have to add something, but that I have to take something off. Or change it to be shorter. Which is what I have been trying to do this whole time.
Don'l overcomplicate it.
I see your last post, csmarkus. I still can't figure anything out. I have examined every aspect of .*** and it is just like all of the other error pages.
This is driving me nuts. o_o
Dor't overcomplicate it.
Keep in mind that the solution is usually a meaningful word.
I got it! o_o
Um, I had been led to believe this whole time that we were not supposed to change that part. Hmmm...
Thank you for the extent to which you helped me, csmarkus. ._. You are really good at keeping things cryptic and still helping out.
The thing that brought me to the answer is a website all about the art of typing.
The two words on the error page that are important . . . well, one of them, I did not think that would be it.
